Principal Scientist to Director, Discovery
We are seeking an enthusiastic scientist to join the Discovery group in a fast-paced, venture-backed biopharmaceutical company in Cambridge, MA. Kymera Therapeutics is advancing the field of targeted protein degradation, accessing the body’s innate protein recycling machinery to degrade rather than inhibit dysregulated, disease-causing proteins. Powered by Pegasus, a game-changing integrated degradation platform, Kymera is accelerating drug discovery to advance new treatment options for patients with previously untreatable diseases.
The candidate for this position will be responsible for developing small molecule hit finding strategy (including but not limited to DEL, FBS etc) and directing external and internal efforts in protein production, biochemical and biophysical assays to drive discovery programs. He/she will work closely with external collaborators to generate high-quality protein reagents and perform biochemical characterization of target proteins and protein complexes. As the biology lead of the early discovery project team, the candidate will also provide strategic input in target biology and novel approaches to hit finding and validation.
• Extensive experience in biochemical and biophysical assay development, such as SPR, ITC, TR-FRET, ALPHAScreen, fluorescence polarization etc.; ideally experience in DEL and FB screens.
• Familiar with basic cell biology techniques such as mammalian cell cultures and transfections.
• General knowledge of signaling pathways, protein homeostasis, and regulation of gene expression in a diverse disease context.
• Experience with intracellular protein quantitation by Western blot, MSD, or MS a plus.
Enthusiastic, goal-driven, collaborative and team-oriented, open-minded, creative, self-awareness, excellent communication skills
PhD in Biochemistry, Bioengineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 5-year laboratory experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
